Sunrise Health Service has been operating since 2003 and is the second largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation in the Northern Territory.

Based in Katherine (only 3 hours drive from Darwin), Sunrise Health Service services 9 remote communities to the east of Katherine. We serve a population base, predominantly Aboriginal of approximately 3,800 people - many with chronic illnesses requiring early detection and amelioration.

It is important that our staff embrace the intent of our organisational plan - the Sunrise Way and work with the Board, communities and management team to deliver family-based services that address not only medical needs but the social determinants of health as well.

Primary Health Care Manager

The Primary Health Care Manager coordinates and supports the overall multidisciplinary and integrated approach to the remote health team’s goals to manage illness, promote well-being, maintain health systems, provide education and training and encourage community health action. Additionally, the successful applicant will be responsible for managing all aspects of the day to day operations of the Health Centre including planning, portfolio management, pharmacy, and consumables as well as assets management. Building the capacity of Aboriginal Health Practitioners (AHPs) and other Indigenous staff to provide culturally safe health care is pivotal to this role. This position collaborates extensively with other areas and organisations, both internal and external, to achieve the best possible health outcomes. The Manager also participates in the emergency call-roster and supports staff in meeting after-hours needs.

Sexual Health Coordinator (Male)

The two Sexual health Coordinators are responsible for ensuring Sunrise Health staff deliver high quality sexual health services to all of the people in the Sunrise region. This includes some delivery of sexual health services, upskilling of staff, and health promotion.

Operations Support Coordinator

The Operations Support Coordinator organizes core administrative and operations services to the Primary Health Care branch, as well as providing administration support for the Director of Primary Health Care (DPHC), Director of Public Health and Planning (DPHP), Population Health Team, General Practitioners and Remote Staff.

Mental Health Nurse: Male & Female

The Mental Health Registered Nurse provides expert support to clients requiring mental health care, their families and the remote based staff providing care.  The position promotes excellence in clinical standards and quality of care and works closely with the broader Primary Health Care (PHC) team to integrate and coordinate care for best outcomes for the client.  The position is a region wide clinical outreach position and requires travel by light plane or four-wheel drive and overnights stays to all Sunrise Health Service Aboriginal Corporation (SHS) communities on a regular basis. Primary Health Care Nurse

The Primary Health Care Nurse contributes to a multidisciplinary and integrated approach to the remote health team’s goals to manage illness, promote well-being, maintain health systems, provide education and training and encourage community health action. Building the capacity of Aboriginal Health Practitioners (AHPs) and other Indigenous staff to provide culturally safe health care is pivotal to this role. The position collaborates extensively with other areas and organisations, both internal and external, to achieve the best possible health outcomes. Other aspects of the role include managing a specific health portfolio and providing after hours emergency support services on a rostered basis.

Clinical Educator

The Primary Health Care Clinical Educator assists all Sunrise clinicians, principally Aboriginal Health Practitioners and Primary Health Care nurses, to develop their knowledge and skills to maximise their performance in a multidisciplinary primary health care work place. The position helps support an integrated approach to managing illness, promote well-being, maintain health systems, provide education and training and encourage community health action. The position collaborates extensively with other areas and organisations, both internal and external, to facilitate staff skill development, strengthen local clinical governance and support continuous improvement.
